I didn't really see too many movies in the theatre growing up, however, my Dad brought home 2 movies a night when he bought the classic RCA pop top VCR. One night he had TRON... It said on the box the movie was in "STEREO" and I looked over at the old Kenwood receiver/turntable combo and it gave me an idea no-one in my family had ever attempted, and my Dad will tell you...if I get an idea in my head...that's it and there really is no stopping me. It was a new frontier...watching movies AT HOME...in STEREO!!!! just like the movie theatres...I was able to twist my Dad's arm and we got a Radio Shack "Y"cord and plugged the VCR into the AUX jack.We hit play, turned it up...and there I was jumping around the living room...so happy that it worked, and I was glued to the screen.Tron blew my mind!
That was 28 years ago... And if you told me back then I would be working in movies and on a sequel to this classic...I would have blown my whistle yelling STRANGER!!! STRANGER!!! haha
But there I was...on the set of TRON LEGACY...Everyday was incredible....Everyday was tough! Every day pinching myself...Everyday I felt a responsibility to every Fan of Tron out there to do everything within my pay grade to make this a success, and give it all I had knowing how cool it was to be there.
Imagine being on a 747 and the pilots hand you the controls and trust you to land the plane. That is exactly what Joe Kosinski did with his Directorial debut. This is STYLISH from beginning to end...The score was so rich and creamy...I was worried it all was going straight to my hips...I had eargasm after eargasm with the sweetest analogue sounding score I have ever heard in a theatre...Everyone was great!!! Everything looked amazing beyond words...The movie took its time...allowing us to just soak in and savor all the eye-candy,and feel the emotions of the characters and experience the SCALE and SCOPE of the scenes that play out like you are standing on the edge and looking out over the grand canyon...
Fluid and liquid, and taking chances with cutting edge techniques, and cast and crew who are the top of their field pushed to bring everything they had...the passion, vision and emotion of everyone,is clearly seen and felt from beginning to end.
TRON LEGACY does not disappoint!!! I have never been so proud to have been a part of something so Epic..I am very grateful!!!

The Royal TEENembaums....
I thought this movie was going to be good...but not THIS GOOD!!! Holy crap!! The script must have been as thick as a phone book to explain what was going to happen in this movie...Completely hysterical...Well thought out, brilliantly written, top notch performances ,and flawless FX...
The whole theatre was roaring the whole time and the way teens are these days with the attention span of a bottle rocket....this movie succeeded!!!

Did you feel that?
A beautiful thing about technology is that now decades later we can revisit the classic horror blood and gut T&A genre and actually be able to make it look real and scary, and still have it be a fun romp...You know what you are in for when you go see this movie,so just enjoy the camp, and revel in the realism of the FX that I'm sure those Horror film makers of the past could only dream about!

A wooden gun...
There are some guys who play it safe and never take chances with anything...Then there are THE OTHER GUYS... Just when you thought you've seen it all, Will Ferrell keeps pushing the boundaries of his warped sense of humor. It is funny as hell ,if this is your type of comedy you will be crying...Hats off to this movie for not stopping at the edge and going completely over the top...

Are you thinking what I'm thinking?
Who's idea was it to give Mr. Nolan a blank cheque and say "Do whatever you want!"? THAT person deserves a promotion!!! Or was it the consistent ,flawless, emotional, character driving, detail oriented, passionate stories told by Mr.Nolan in the past that put such an idea into studio exec's heads??
Either way...Inception is Brilliant, Amazing , and Mind Bending...It is almost like a sing- along...like when Elementary school kids are singing Frere Jacques and half the room starts first and the other half starts a few bars later and it all gels. You as the audience are invited to participate in the story. How you perceive it ,is how much you will enjoy it. Some people just want to sit back and let things unfold... others like to spend their time in a movie figuring out who the bad guy is or where the plot twist is going to be. No matter how strange this movie became ...I was "Always" left thinking WOW!! instead of HUH? and that folks is TRUE Directing Genius and OSCAR WORTHY STORY TELLING!!! The End
If this movie...with ALL it's Brilliance ,Originality and OSCAR Winning and Nominated Heavy Hitters both in front of and behind the camera CAN'T put Leonardo on the podium THIS TIME....I will start up MY OWN crime unit...and call it CSI "DiCaprio" as this man has been ROBBED of what is rightfully his time and time again... BEST ACTOR... and I can no longer sit by and watch it happen without doing something to bring these perpetrators to Justice!!!
For Me...The only thing better than watching Inception...is watching it again in IMAX...

I said...A DART Gun!!!
3D is here to stay! At least as far as Animated Movies go... Another thing that is impressing me about this added dimension...is what seems to be a new dimension in the DEPTH of the stories being told...No they aren't giving away the Secrets of the Pyramids...Just more of an emotional depth...more of a connection with the audience, and more brilliant comic relief moments that come from left field but are right in the pocket. On top of that....It just looks AMAZING...!!!
And now a word about Movie Theatre Etiquette...
This one goes out to the HOT FLASH twins sitting in the row in front of me and to the left smack dab in my peripheral vision....here are the basic rules you sandwich hustlers...
1.You don't tug on Superman's cape...
2.You don't spit into the wind....
3.You don't pull the mask off the ol' Lone Ranger,
AND YOU DON'T FURIOUSLY FAN YOURSELF WITH A WHITE AND REFLECTIVE OBJECT DURING A 3D MOVIE!!! Are you THAT oblivious?? You will give someone a seizure one of these days!

First off... Huge fan of the Rodriguez School of film -making! Huge Fan of the Predator characters...(part of my work outfit was inspired by the Predator armor) I thought oh boy, this is going to be good...This movie fooled me, but wait a minute...actually it didn't.
Usually the first 30 seconds of a movie tells me a lot about it...and now that I've seen this film and had time to reflect, I realize the opening scene was a metaphoric premonition of exactly where this movie was going...
A spiraling free-fall with nowhere to go, and no clue how it got there, and no hope of getting the chute open in time to prevent a hard landing....
Modern Science is proving everyday that you CAN change the Law of Physics, however in Hollywood....
YOU CAN'T CHANGE THE LAW OF PHYSICS OF THE UNIVERSE YOU CREATE!!!!
Let me translate... If a movie wants me to believe a "Character" can get up after flying through a plate glass window, Cool...I'm along for the ride... But PLEASE don't insult me by knocking out that same "Character" later on in the film with a stick of french bread because the film wrote itself into a corner, and had to break it's own rules to create drama or resolve conflict...
I for the life of me could NOT believe that any of these characters were deadly or scary people, and the movie had
to dumb down the new "Advanced Race" of Predators just to make it not look like a typical day at the driving range for these Aliens...
Now a good fight would be PREDATORS VS. The Cast of THE EXPENDABLES....
In the end...there still is entertainment value in this film with really interesting elements and I suggest you go see it and make up your own mind....

Is there really a chemical that turns urine blue in a pool?
If you were some "Artsy Fartsy" philosophy film student who uses 13 letter words in the rants they write on the bathroom walls of their University washroom, you probably would say Grown Ups was a representation of the decline of the Western Civilization as we know it. Is it us or technology that has made us forget the simple things in life? I wonder if skipping rocks on the water would have been so much fun growing up if we had X-boxes and PS3's?
The Stereotypical Role- Reversal sounds like a move even Mary-Lou Retton might not be able to stick, but this movie pulls it off by creating new ways to poke fun at people and packaging it in nostalgia. Speaking of that....
My fave part of this movie was the water park. It took me back to my youth, when a couple of buddies and I were 13 and we did anything we could including running over sharp gravel just to get in line for the multi tiered white water slide behind a group of four hot 18 yr old girls wearing skimpy bikinis.
Once we were on the slide behind them, we'd crash our inner tubes into them creating a splashing dog pile and reach for anything we could to keep us afloat. I still remember the End-Zone dance my buddy did after getting a hold of the one girl's bikini top that was unable to support both my friend and her breast at the same time exposing her right there on the slide...It looked like an accident to them, but they got suspicious when we were always behind them in line to go on that particular slide....Ahh the memories...

To Incredible and Beyond...
Well Toy Story really started it all didn't it? It made paying money to watch animation on a big screen as commonplace as looking both ways before crossing the street. I thought to myself when a third installment was announced..."Really??? do we need really another Toy Story...with all these NEW animations with all NEW characters coming out every other week...what STORY do these old toys have left to tell?"
The Answer? Easily one of the BEST I have seen in a long time!!!
Disney/Pixar has taken these old toys that Andy (and just about everybody else) forgot about and gave them purpose again and breathed new life into a classic franchise. I was entertained and completely lost in the ride thanks to one of the BEST music scores in recent times that drives this story through it's hills and valleys and inevitably to the top of the now massive heap of animated movies where it belongs...
I Loved It...just when I thought they couldn't make a better Toy Story, they did....

Ka-BOOM!
Ok, I have never read a single Jonah Hex comic. I really know nothing about the characters. What I DO know is John Malkovich NEVER disappoints, and Josh Brolin ALWAYS hits it out of the park, so no matter what the story is about, I already got my money's worth just having a chance to watch these two go at it.
Jonah Hex comes out Two Guns a Blazin' and doesn't stop!!! It is interesting how these pioneers of destruction think they are so tough with their dynamite and wonder what they would say if they saw a glimpse of the toys available today. Megan Fox saw limited screen time which surprised me, but her message is clear with just about everything she does... "She ain't much for being OWNED! " and proves in this film she can HOLD HER OWN with the best and is willing to take chances, and folks...she is just getting warmed up!
Jonah Hex did run out of ammo early, clocking only an hour and twenty three minutes. Looking online after the movie at comic covers of Hex, I can say the casting was perfect. So, although knowing nothing of the story or characters, and still coming out entertained...I declare Jonah Hex.....

Hey...You got your chocolate in my peanut butter!
The classic line in Jurassic Park..."You spent so much time wondering if you could, you didn't stop to wonder if you should!"
Splice re-visits that sentiment, and shows what could happen when Innocence is stewarded by the Arrogant and the Ignorant. This disturbing movie asks questions beyond right and wrong without uttering a word, and for such great performances,FX and high production values without the "Big Budget"This Canadian Made movie SPLICE is easily...

Forget keeping up with the Joneses,Hollywood now needs to keep up with The Smiths!!
Now everybody knows I suck at math, but I DO know if you take a Kung Fu Master, and have him play the role of a Kung Fu Master, it will add up to a MASTERPIECE! Jackie Chan delivers the best acting performance of his Career, and in my opinion "Oscar"worthy. For a few years now, the only voice of reason and common sense we've heard in the media comes out of the mouth of Dr. Phil, and now, we have Mr. Han. "Kung Fu is in Everything you do, how you treat people, how you act", and Jackie Chan has led by example as a Hero and a Mentor to millions for decades...I am one of the lucky ones who can say they had the Honor of shaking that man's hand and personally saying Thank You! (I wish Mr. Han was there in the theatre tonight to teach respect to that punk-ass "Text- er" in the row in front of me...Take out your phone! Turn it off! Put it in your pocket! Now take it out! Turn it on! Text a friend! Now turn it off! Put it back in your pocket! Now take it back out! etc. etc.)
Jaden Smith is a by-product of Family Values and Work Ethic. The triple threat of a leading role, doing All his own stunts, and then performing on the soundtrack, clearly shows the apple doesn't fall far from the tree!
Amazing locations and flawless casting of the villains...Wow the look of anger and evil in their eyes, was just like the eyes of the bullies we all went to school with.(and some of my co-workers)
I did however feel the movie started off a little shaky and found it hard to settle into the ride. kind of like when a buddy picks you up in their car and as they speed down the road you are still fumbling around searching for the seat belt but once you are buckled in,it's all good. The "Focus" could have used a little more focus!
Otherwise, a great re-imagining of a Hollywood classic, and I declare The Karate Kid...

The isle seat is reserved for those who can't handle the Large Drink!
I PITY THE FOOL! who misses out on watching this movie on the BIG Screen! The A-Team does such a good job of capturing EVERYTHING we loved about the TV series growing up that it made me feel like no time had passed and I was watching part 2 of the season finale cliffhanger! I remember my nickname in Elementary school was Murdoch, I still don't know why cause' I didn't look anything like the Actor who played him? Anyways...
A-team was Action- Packed ,Funny and ALL HEART! Everybody in the theatre was hooting and cheering at the CLASSIC A-Team moments and it really felt good to not be the only one doing that in a movie for a change.
So without further ado, I declare The A-Team...
