More than meets the eye...
As any great race car driver will tell you, knowing the course first makes for a better race.Hitting a super track cold and blind full speed will surely put you over the rails and into the ditch. That happened to me the first time I watched Transformers Dark of the Moon...I thought I knew the track...where all the turns would be...at first viewing I had trouble following the course...thinking "Why is this turn here instead of there...? "WTF is that person doing in this and where are the other people I was expecting to be here and just before I collected that thought...I had another visual spectacle with about 50,000 moving parts now in 3 dimensions making me go WOW!!! I had to get past what I wanted to see and where I hoped Sam and the gang would be in their lives, and watch the movie Micheal Bay made...
Now that I know the story...I can really understand all the little details that are right in the beginning of the film and foreshadowing and REALLY get into the groove of this, and after the third viewing...really appreciate the detail of the film making and craftsmanship.I preyed this third installment would slow down some of the fight moves to really showcase the fight choreography and the clashing metal, and it was done to perfection. Not EVERYTHING is going to be exactly how we want it or expect...but there is a great balance of all the elements and comic relief and drama and action, and there is something for everybody.
It isn't just the fighting that is great...there is a very intricate and interesting story here that needed multiple viewings to really grasp and as a THIRD installment to a mega franchise about toys, Mr. Bay took the best of Transformers One and Two and gave us MORE of it, and tied it all together in a climactic conclusion that was brilliant and cannot be touched this Summer for it's scale and pushing boundaries of what can be done with 3d and action movies.
We as fans reap the rewards of Micheal Bay's challenge of making a third Transformers movie on a new medium he had never used, and have it blow everybody away with absolutely spectacular visuals and scale....!!!
